Unfortunately, women rarely receive the information that the law requires. Abortion centers give them inaccurate information about the risks and alternatives available to them. That is why the Minnesota Legislature enacted the Woman's Right to Know law in 2003.
The law requires that those considering abortion be offered a free booklet from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) that accurately describes the stages of their pregnancy, specific risks that could affect their health, their ability to bear children in the future and even some risks to their lives. The booklet also tells them about alternatives and practical help that the state provides.
Get the information you deserve
Unfortunately, even with Woman's Right to Know in place, most abortion clinics do not provide this free information, claiming they can give the same information over the phone in 5 minutes or less. That is simply not possible. Some abortionists even charge women for photocopied versions of the booklet that is available to them for free. If you are considering abortion, be sure to ask for the free MDH booklet or at least visit the MDH Web site to get the information.
Don't make a choice that many women regret once the crisis has passed. The choice you exercise is irreversible. Don't you want to have all the facts before you decide?
Visit the Minnesota Department of Health Web site -- http://www.health.state.mn.us/wrtk/handbook.htmlIt is also available in Spanish -- http://www.health.state.mn.us/wrtk/handbookspa.html
We hope you will choose life for your child; for your own peace of mind, please learn the facts from the MDH before it is too late. If you want help with your pregnancy visit our Pregnancy Care Center page. If you need help after an abortion, that is available as well.
