According to the latest annual report of the nation’s largest abortionist, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) performed more abortions than ever—305,310—in 2007.

As Planned Parenthood continues to build its abortion empire on the backs of vulnerable women and taxpayers, pregnant women and their unborn babies remain targets of an abortion industry that preys upon them.

PPFA increased its abortions by 5.4 percent in 2007 over the previous year. The number of abortions performed annually in the United States has declined steadily in recent years, yet Planned Parenthood has performed abortions on more women year after year. The abortion organization increased its abortions by a stunning 64.5 percent from 2000 to 2007.

PPFA’s commitment is to grow its revenues by promoting abortion to the most vulnerable women in our society—teenagers, low-income women, African American women, Hispanic women, those with possibly ‘imperfect’ babies, and other targeted populations—while perfecting a wildly successful business strategy.

Planned Parenthood’s revenues grew to a record $1.038 billion in 2007, enriched by $349 million in taxpayer dollars in the form of government grants and contracts. PPFA ended its fiscal year on June 30, 2008, with a staggering $1.2 billion in assets—another record!

Applying the average cost of a taxpayer-funded abortion in Minnesota in 2007 ($404), PPFA took in at least $123 million from abortions in 2007.

For the same reason federal, state and local governments do not pay drug dealers hundreds of millions of dollars a year to reduce illegal drug use, it is madness to think that Planned Parenthood will use taxpayer funds to do anything contrary to its bottom line. Planned Parenthood is revenue-driven and has proven throughout its deadly history that it exploits and injures women in pursuit of its radical abortion agenda while continuing to rake in more and more money.

In spite of these grim facts, the Obama administration has greatly expanded its funding of Planned Parenthood and other abortion organizations, allegedly to achieve the goal of reducing abortions.
