March commemorates 42 years of a deadly decision
View our 2015 poster and help encourage other pro-life citizens to participate in the March!
Did you know that on Jan. 22, 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions legalized abortion on demand? Would you like to speak out against abortion and rally together to help change laws and save lives?
Then come and be one of the thousands of people who attend MCCL’s March for Life at the State Capitol on Jan. 22.
More than 600,000 innocent unborn babies have been killed by abortion in our state since it was legalized. More than one-third of all abortions in Minnesota are paid for by taxpayers.
We gather at the Capitol every Jan. 22 to march on the Capitol grounds and to speak out publicly against abortion; to influence our legislators to support pro-life legislation; and to remember all the unborn babies who have been aborted, and the mothers who have been wounded physically, emotionally and spiritually. We gather to demonstrate to others what it means to be pro-life.
Many people come every year to revitalize themselves in their defense of life. It is a time to meet and greet old friends and discover some friends you haven't met yet. For citizens of greater Minnesota it provides an opportunity to speak out at their State Capitol and to meet with their elected officials.
Will you stand with us and join in the MCCL March for Life? Your voice is needed!
We hope you will participate at noon on Jan. 22, 2016 — our 42nd annual MCCL March for Life!
What to expect
The MCCL March for Life begins at noon outside on the Capitol Mall south of the Capitol building (in case of severe weather, the event moves inside the Capitol). Parking is available in several nearby locations (also see map). Several thousand people typically attend the March, so available parking spaces fill up. Another option is the light rail Metro Green Line, which stops at the Capitol. Churches and other groups arrange for buses from St. Cloud, Rochester and many other locations; contact local pro-lifers for information.
Before and during the March, MCCL hands out signs at a table below the lower Mall steps. We also offer a printed program to anyone who wants one. Marchers follow a circular route around the Mall grounds, marching from noon to 12:30 p.m.
Then at 12:30, marchers gather for the pro-life program held on the lower Mall steps. It includes an opening prayer, greetings from MCCL President Leo LaLonde, a brief keynote address, and introduction of lawmakers in attendance. The program concludes by 1 p.m. Some citizens meet with their own state lawmakers after the March for Life.
