MINNEAPOLIS — Today U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar announced her campaign for governor of Minnesota in 2026. The following statement may be attributed to MCCL Co-Executive Director Cathy Blaeser:

"Amy Klobuchar is about as far from moderation on the abortion issue as a politician can possibly be. She voted against advancing a measure to ensure ordinary care for newborns who survive abortion rather than letting them die of neglect. She also voted against stopping taxpayer funding of elective abortion and against protecting babies late in pregnancy when they can feel pain. Just this week, Sen. Klobuchar voted to block the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act, which would have required colleges to inform pregnant and parenting students of their rights and the resources available to them.

"In the wake of Tim Walz's extreme policies, many Minnesotans are looking for a more reasonable and commonsense approach that supports women and babies. They won't find it with Sen. Klobuchar, who has earned a zero percent pro-life voting record across dozens of votes in her decades spent in Washington."
